WWE has been dominating the wrestling industry for quite a while now. AEW is relatively new to the pro wrestling scenario if we compare it to other WWE competitors. Although Tony Khan has managed to hire several fan-favorite wrestling talents for his company, it appears that not all staff are happy working there.

Recent reports from an insider suggest that while the backstage morale in the promotion has been at an all-time high since the beginning of this year, the employees have grown frustrated with the results that the company is witnessing.

AEW has been having trouble keeping up with WWE’s ratings and viewership for understandable reasons. However, this is the year when the company also saw its worst rating in the AEW Collision history. But viewership is not what has upset the locker room.

After the January 7th of AEW Dynamite, Dave Meltzer reported that the backstage morale in Tony Khan’s company is pretty high. Despite the big crowds in the shows, the ratings were dropping low. But this didn’t stop the backstage morale from going upward.

However, the industry insider has re-reported recently that the locker room appears to be frustrated because of the changes they are seeing in their recent shows. Unlike before, the crowd has reduced to a considerably smaller number. “There is also frustration from a lot of circles since talent comes to the shows and sees the smaller crowds since the start of the year. Khan always paints a positive picture about the company being stronger due to increased revenues, or bringing up ratings, and there’s the feeling that popularity is declining overall and changes have to be made to turn it around and he’s acting like everything is fine,” Meltzer said.

In spite of their high morale, the locker room is feeling frustrated as they might feel like there is no real progress happening. Even fans have not made it easy for Tony Khan with all the callouts.

A few episodes ago, AEW Dynamite hit the mark of 200 episodes. The promotion displayed a wholesome message for Tony Khan on the big screens in the arena, thanking him for the milestone. However, this attracted unwanted attention from fans who started calling out the CEO of AEW for ‘appreciating himself’ rather than thanking fans, the wrestling talent, and the employees working backstage.

Because of the callouts, Khan had to get on the social media platform ‘X’ to clarify that it was a surprise from the company crew on the occasion of the 200th Dynamite episode. The businessman claims that it wasn’t a decision that required his decision, and neither was he aware while it was taking place.
