After the beating Cody Rhodes took by the hands of Brock Lesnar, it seems there will be a major twist in their match. As The American Nightmare will face The Beast Incarnate for the second time at Night of Champions, fans are now eager to see who will win. Rhodes already has a win over Lesnar, but this match is not going to be easy after he suffered a brutal beat down on RAW. Moreover, Triple H later came to talk to the 37-year-old about reconsidering going to Saudi Arabia for his match with Lesnar.

But have you wondered what was the actual reason for The Beast to attack Rhodes on RAW after WrestleMania 39 in the first place? On RAW Hunter had a brief conversation with Rhodes which could point to the fact he might be the mastermind behind all of this.

Rhodes is adamant to fight Lesnar at Night of Champions even after the beating on RAW. Also, Triple H showing up to talk with Rhodes makes it interesting. Why did he want Rhodes to not go to Saudi Arabia? Is he pulling the strings in a much larger picture? Let’s have a look as to why ‘The Cerebral Assassin’ can be the mastermind behind this feud.

Brock Lesnar has no reason to go after Cody Rhodes

It was a surprise for everyone when The Conqueror teased to be Rhodes’ tag team partner and then ‘F-5’ed’ him before the match began. Rhodes had lost the match against Roman Reigns, while Lesnar had defeated Omos at WrestleMania. Hence, the WWE Universe was confused about what was the reason for the attack.

Furthermore, after two months down the line there is no proper reason stated why The Beast attacked Rhodes. However, once during an episode of RAW, the commentators possibly gave a reason. They talked about Lesnar being angry at The American Nightmare getting the main event spot at the Grandest Stage.

Could it be that the former UFC fighter is showing his “anger” towards Triple H for giving Rhodes the main event spot instead of him?

But this reason was largely scoffed at by the fans and not mentioned again on programming. Also, Lesnar went first at WrestleMania 35 and didn’t assault anyone later for not being in the main event.

There can be another reason which might be revealed later that Lesnar and Triple H were together behind this since the start.

A major program with The Authority

Stone Cold Steve Austin, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kofi Kingston, and Becky Lynch. All these WWE stars had one thing in common that catapulted their stardom to the next level. They are the ones who had a feud with The Authority aka kayfabe WWE management on weekly shows to elevate their stock.

WWE has a pattern that they follow several times to elevate babyfaces by putting them in a feud with the management who stack the deck against them and make them fight ridiculous odds. This leads to the fans rallying behind the face and you have turned a popular star into the next big thing.

The match at Night of Champions might be the end of the program for Rhodes and Lesnar. Hence, to start a new chapter, WWE might’ve already hinted at a future feud for The American Nightmare.

Triple H cannot wrestle anymore, but his heel antics are enough to get a babyface over. WWE is reportedly not planning a feud between Rhodes and Roman Reigns anytime soon. Hence, this can be a possible storyline reason where Triple H is the mastermind behind Lesnar attacking Rhodes and adding a new chapter to his “story”.

A feud with ‘The Authority’ will definitely elevate Rhodes in WWE. An already popular Rhodes could touch new levels of credibility with an on-screen feud against the bosses. This will also allow WWE to keep Rhodes ‘hot’ until he eventually circles back to Reigns.

The company can bring up him leaving WWE and forming AEW. Thus, the Hall of Famer was taking revenge for trying to destroy WWE and his brainchild NXT with whom AEW Dynamite had a rating war.

Triple H remembers Cody Rhodes breaking his throne

AEW Double or Nothing 2019, Brandi Rhodes handed a sledgehammer to her husband during the entrance. Trying to make a statement, The American Nightmare took the hammer and destroyed the throne, similar to what Triple H used in many WrestleMania entrances. It was a symbolic gesture of breaking free from the WWE shackles and stepping into the brave new world, challenging WWE’s position.

WWE could play the whole act of Rhodes shattering Triple H’s throne into this storyline and how he made it personal and something that The Game hasn’t forgotten.

Ever since Rhodes came back to WWE, fans have asked him about his relationship with the ‘Cerebral Assassin’. He has always claimed its great and professional. However, this is a major reason Triple H could be the one behind Rhodes getting beat down by Lesnar.

The Beast Incarnate will do what’s best for business and Brock Lesnar could be Triple H’s handpicked henchman in the storyline. Hence, the story might go Hunter explaining to Lesnar how Rhodes tried to destroy WWE by creating AEW. This could’ve led to Lesnar siding with his old in-ring rival and doing the dirty work for him by attacking Rhodes on RAW after WrestleMania 39.
