Wrestler-turned-actor John Cena suffered a setback from Warner Bros after it was announced that the much-looked-forward-to movie, Coyote vs. Acme, was canceled. The movie was initially supposed to be released in July 2023, but Warner Bros didn’t see much promise. They scrapped the movie to save $30 million as a tax benefit and also saved on movie distribution and marketing expenses.

However, a few weeks later the movie found redemption as Warner Bros. decided to make the movie available for distribution for a satisfactory price. Now, three big brands in the film industry are vouching for the canceled product.

Here are the three reasons why Netflix, Amazon, and Paramount are vouching for John Cena’s CGI-animated movie from The Looney Tunes franchise.

Coyote vs. Acme movie is based on the characters from the popular cartoon show The Road Runners. It is from the famous animated series franchise titled Looney Tunes which also includes characters like Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny.

The show carries a lot of nostalgic value for kids from the 70s, 80s, 90s and even 2000s era. Hence, it makes a lot of business sense to buy into another live-action movie from the franchise.

A finished product with a star cast to save costs

The movie features a star cast of John Cena, Will Forte, and Lana Condor. John Cena is a renowned WWE legend who has made a name in Hollywood with the Peacemaker series and the Fast & Furious franchise. During his wrestling days, Cena was known for his funny promos.

Will Forte is a famous comedian and actor. He has worked in movies like The Last Man on Earth and Strays. His work is usually in the comedy-drama genre. Meanwhile, Lana Condor is a YouTuber and actress who brings in her own set of fans from her work. Hence, the cast is deservedly fit for the comedy movie. Especially considering that previous live-action iterations from the Looney Tunes franchise have performed exceedingly well in terms of fan reactions.

When the movie was canceled by WBD, it was already a finished product on the verge of screening. Streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon are always looking for content for their platform. Paramount Pictures is a film distribution and production firm. Thus, it is beneficial for all three big guns to go for the movie as they save time on production and focus on marketing the movie instead. Even that wouldn’t be too big of a task, considering the press the movie has gotten over the last few weeks.
