2014 would serve to be the last year of Punk in the WWE. After losing the Royal Rumble 2014 to Kane, Punk would walk out from the WWE. Punk’s reasons for walking out were claiming creative differences and favoritism among the top brass and the current roaster. This came as a massive shock to the WWE Universe.

With his return, Punk could go after the biggest title in the WWE, the Undisputed Universal Championship. This title has been with Roman Reigns for over three years. A star like Punk feuding for the belt will be a massive draw. Reign’s debut on the main roster came as a part of The SHILED at Survivor Series 2012, employed by Punk. This could also lead to another feud between Punk and the Wiseman, Paul Heyman.

The second reason why Punk could sign with SmackDown is Heyman. Heyman and Punk had great chemistry, and the duo respected each other. Being a Heyman Guy is something that Punk loved. However, since his departure, Heyman has worked with Brock Lesnar and Reigns. This could lead to a storyline where Heyman betrays Reigns to let Punk steal the win and the title.

The final and third reason for Punk showing up on SmackDown could be to make his presence known. This could be his next move after addressing the fans on Monday Night RAW. While no one knows what Punk could talk about, the hype has led to massive ticket sales ahead of the event. Nevertheless, the most likely possibility still remains of him staying on Raw to go after Seth Rollins.

Punk could stay on RAW and go after Seth Rollins

Many fans speculate that this second run for Punk in the WWE could be much bigger than before. The former AEW star could challenge Seth Rollins for his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. There have been flaring tensions between the two. The World Heavyweight champion wasted no time in going off the boil as the Chicago native made his return in his hometown during the Survivor Series PLE. Punk could kill two birds with one stone as he could overcome a nemesis and also attain the honor of having a title around his waist.

After winning the title off Rollins, Punk could then target Reigns for his title. This would give Punk a chance to win both belts and be the biggest star in the WWE.
