Sami Zayn is on fire on Monday Night RAW. From standing off against Judgment Day alone and being one of the most loved wrestlers on the cards, Zayn is on a good run. However, he has no belt since losing the Tag Team belts with Kevin Owens. So, now would be an excellent chance for Zayn to set his sights on the Intercontinental Championship, and here’s why.

Zayn is scheduled to face JD McDonagh at Crown Jewel’s kick-off show on November 4, 2023.

Zayn has been part of the WWE since 2013. Spending the first 2 years in NXT, he gained a massive following for himself. With his loveable persona and catchy theme song, he was a crowd favorite. On May 4, 2015, he made his main roster debut. During his run, he won the Intercontinental Championship three times, and it looks like it’s the best time for his fourth run.

Zayn and Owens have been a great team since their NXT days. Despite having a fallout and facing each other in multiple matches, the best buds were still together. However, with Owens now on SmackDown, Zayn can focus on his solo run again.

Despite winning the IC title three times, Zayn has not held it for a long time. The longest was his second run with the title, which lasted for 86 days. With Gunther holding the title for the longest in the history of the WWE, the IC title now has weight to it. To prove himself as a champion-level wrestler, Zayn should aim for the title now.

The current drama involving the Intercontinental Championship

The current reigning Intercontinental champion is Gunther. During the 10th June episode of SmackDown, Gunther defeated Ricochet to win the Intercontinental Championship. He has held the title ever since, making him the longest-reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion ever. This put a massive spotlight on the title as no one could get it off the Ring General.

This last episode of RAW saw The Miz interview Gunther. The host claimed he gave the IC title more prestige than Gunther has. WWE fans saw Miz turn face as he squared off against Gunther and the Imperium. With the former WWE champion setting his sights on the IC belt, Zayn could easily use this opportunity to prove himself.
