After endless teasers stretched across weeks and months, Uncle Howdy finally returned on Raw 06/17 along with the rest of the Wyatt 6. The stable’s debut garnered rave reviews. Later that evening, the crew appeared to have crashed at a What-A-Burger to fill their bellies, probably before heading to their supposed destinations.

Since the night had ended, they did not don any of their wrestling gear as they grabbed a bite. This is when a fan recognized them and wanted to get a picture clicked. The group obliged the fan’s request. Some quarters of the pro wrestling community chastised this decision as the group had not adhered to kayfabe. However, a WWE legend supports this decision to not always be in kayfabe.

Uncle Howdy finally gets some support

The supernatural entities, that is the Wyatt Sick6, do not go everywhere wearing their kayfabe. They thought it would be better to lose the work outfits and masks before heading out. When their unmasked pictures went viral on the internet, wrestling veterans like Mark Henry criticized them for losing kayfabe right after an electrifying debut. When asked about the same on his podcast, Dutch Mantel had a different perspective. He called out Henry and others for criticizing Bo Dallas’ stable. “Those bast**ds. Give them a gimmick and they’re trying to kill it right off the bat.’ No, I don’t think they should keep it. The kayfabe era is gone. I mean, they’re selling out now, and everybody knows what’s going on. They’re interested. It’s a show, said the retired wrestler.

The 74-year-old believes that not everybody should stay in the same character 24/7. Although public kayfabe is appreciated, it may not prove efficient to pull it off, especially when the gimmick is staunchly different from a wrestler’s real-life personality. Despite the support from Mantel, the Wyatt Sicks had to endure another criticism from another legendary wrestler.

Uncle Howdy’s voice becomes the subject of criticism

Before this unmasked picture went viral and the stable earned ridicule for exposing kayfabe, the debut also became notable for one thing. The promotion did not think of an alternative to Bo Dallas’ voice when the Wyatt 6 delivered their first promo on Monday Night Raw. Despite the eerie vibe that all the characters bring to the show, the supposed leader of the stable, in the end, says, “We’re here,” right before turning the lamp off and closing the red brand show for the week.

Although fans didn’t pay attention to the end of the segment, Bully Ray claimed on a podcast that the ‘humanity’ in Uncle Howdy’s voice ‘threw him off’. Despite the excellent reviews about the team, the criticism about the voice stayed in the minds of the WWE faithful. The promotion ended up changing this when they started doing the VHS promos. How they will handle live promos is still a mystery. However, whether they continue to adhere to kayfabe in public after Mark Henry’s criticism has yet to unfold.

Do you think the Wyatt 6 should maintain kayfabe in public too?
