In a move that no one saw coming, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made his return to the WWE. When Triple H announced that a former WWE champion would be returning to the Day 1 edition of WWE Raw, very few expected it to be the People’s Champion.

Many fans were underwhelmed when Jinder Mahal returned as ‘the former WWE Champion’ Triple H said would return, until The Rock’s music hit and the San Diego crowd erupted in an ear-piercing pop that even The Rock couldn’t help but acknowledge on his Instagram.

“Chills”: Dwayne Johnson’s message of gratefulness

Taking to his Instagram, the Rock couldn’t help but thank the San Diego crowd for the massive love they showered towards ‘The Brahma Bull’. 

Sharing a video of his promo from the Day 1 edition of RAW, he wrote, “This is 25+ grateful years of building this sacred connection with the people. This eruption at the end just hit different. I’ve experienced some very loud crowd pops, throughout my career, but this was on another level. This reaction had layers. Chills. Love U back.~ people’s champ”

While the return caused an adrenaline rush among the fans, what came next was something out of every fan’s fantasies. A line of Johnson’s promo mentioned that he would like to sit at the Head of the Table. This was a direct hint at Roman Reigns. A dream match for many, a nightmare for the Tribal chief.

With the return of the ‘Brahma Bull’ and his hint at fighting Reigns, fans cannot stop but wait anxiously for a match to be announced between the two. An angle between the two would be a spectacle considering the fact that the Bloodline would have to go against their own cousin and possibly their toughest opponent ever. And it is not just the fans; even WWE veterans are rooting for a feud between the two at WrestleMania 40.

In a recent episode of his podcast, ‘Hall of Fame with Booker T and Brad Gilmore’, the Hall of Famers shared his thoughts on the feud and how it would be the best decision to be made by the company. He said, “It’s got a buzz. Everybody talking about it. I think that’s the modus operandi. I think that’s what that is, more than anything.” “For me, you don’t want to let that thing simmer too long.”

He further emphasized the importance of the feud for Reigns and how it would be a missed opportunity for WWE.  “Roman’s in his prime, at the height of his title reign. It’s not gonna get any higher than this,” he said. Booker T is all-in for the storyline to happen, seconding the voice of the majority of the fans. What do you think?
