Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin have been a tag team for almost a year now. They haven’t been just another tag team, but a very successful one, until recently. Since being removed from The Hurt Business, Alexander and Benjamin have lost their momentum and have lost almost every week.

This series of losses hurts both men, but it seemingly hurt Alexander a little more. And unfortunately, he called off the tag team with ‘The Gold Standard.’ Yes, he did that, and we can’t believe it either.

This week on Raw, Alexander and Benjamin took on the Lucha House Party. The match was a typical tag team match on Raw, with some exciting spots and a quick finish.

In the end, it was Gran Metalik who picked up the win for his team by pinning Shelton Benjamin. This became too much for Alexander as they lost for the fourth week in a row.

After the match, Cedric took the microphone and had some strong words for Benjamin. He addressed the elephant in the room, reflecting on their massive fall from being tag team champions to jobbers on Monday Night Raw.

Alexander added that these losses are the reasons why Lashley and MVP threw them out of the Hurt Business.

However, Cedric Alexander corrected himself and said that they didn’t kick him out of the Hurt Business but only Benjamin. He said, “I should’ve turned my back on you too! You were the weak link in the Hurt Business since day one.”

Alexander could not stop breathing fire as he continued his verbal assault on the veteran. He said Shelton Benjamin has been in WWE for many years and has received many opportunities, but he couldn’t make anything out of it.

He even asked him the stinging question – how many years were left in his career?

“Unlike you Shelton, I’m in the prime of my life. And I refuse to waste another second, keeping yours alive. So just like you, this team is done,” concluded Alexander.

Alexander – Benjamin feud in the works?

Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin seemed directionless after being kicked out of the Hurt Business. Many wondered what was next for them, and it seems like now we finally know.

WWE is going the extra mile giving Alexander and Benjamin a meaningful feud. Plus, with Alexander being the heel, it allows him to showcase more character.

The words from Alexander were just the beginning of this feud. In a backstage interview later, Shelton Benjamin revealed that he was the one who saw the fire inside Cedric Alexander and not MVP or Bobby Lashley. He said, “The only reason Cedric Alexander was in the Hurt Business is because I saw something in him that nobody else did!”

We already know how good Alexander and Benjamin are in the ring; all we need is a storyline that keeps us gripped for a few months.
