WWE is having the worst of luck with injuries recently. Superstars such as Randy Orton, Becky Lynch and Cody Rhodes have been absent because of injuries for quite some time. Earlier it was reported that RAW Superstar Kevin Owens suffered a knee injury during a live event in Wisconsin on Sunday 13 November. And now WWE’s injury list has another name.

Former World Champion Rey Mysterio is the latest WWE star to be injured. Mr. 619 wrestled the Intercontinental Champion Gunther a few weeks ago, and the two put on a classic. Fans also looked forward to seeing Mysterio participate in the World Cup tournament on SmackDown. But that may no longer be the case due to an injury he sustained.
After the reports of Mysterio’s injury broke out, fans took to Twitter to wish him a speedy recovery and cursed WWE’s luck with injuries recently.
Fans disheartened over injury to Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio has been one of the mainstays of WWE for years. The Luchador has also featured prominently in WWE programming over the last few years, especially since his son Dominik made his in-ring debut. The father-son duo even won the tag team titles together before Dominik turned heel on his father and joined the Judgement Day faction.
Mysterio has been wrestling for WWE for close to two decades and has put on solid performances everytime. He recently moved to the SmackDown brand and was set to take part in the “World Cup” tournament. However, reports are now emerging that WWE has pulled him from the tournament due to an injury.
According to a report in the Wrestling Observer, Mysterio was backstage at SmackDown in a walking boot. The injury is beleived to not be serious, and it’s unspecified whether it is the ankle or foot.
After this news came out, fans immediately went over on social media and showed their support for the legendary Rey Mysterio.

Although this injury is unfortunate, it is expected that Mysterio won’t be out for more than a few weeks and this is a short-term injury. The fact that he was backstage on SmackDown also bodes well.
