In the pro wrestling universe, there are several promotions, but the two popular ones across the world are, undoubtedly, WWE and AEW. Even though they work as distinct entities, the wrestlers across both companies seemed to have a good bond. However, as per the president of AEW, things are completely different. His recent claims are quite outrageous and don’t go along with what the fans think.
The battle of the wrestling royalties is going on for a long time now. The comparison between Vince McMahon’s and Tony Khan’s wealth is a consistent hot topic among both fandoms. However, there have been times when Khan opened up on the possibility of working with WWE. But then he soon switches his viewpoints, which some fans describe as his failed attempt at gassing up the audience.

During his appearance on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, Khan spoke some harsh words regarding the ongoing relationship of both the leading promotions of pro wrestling. He said, “Now, what’s interesting is the story that is the most real, the most intense and the most hatred in all of pro wrestling is that between the two wrestling promotions (AEW & WWE).”
“I think we truly, truly hate each other and I think it makes for really exciting TV and it makes for an exciting wrestling war,” the founder of AEW added.
His words clearly express his agenda of building a really thrilling storyline that shows the war between AEW and WWE. But what if the audience for whom he is planning all this doesn’t want to see it in the first place? Fans reacted strongly to his enraging statements.
Fans go against the beliefs of AEW’s president
It must be shocking for the 40-year-old when pro wrestling fans go against him. Their thoughts do not align with what the AEW’s co-owner believes. The wrestling fanatics very well know about the bond that wrestlers share backstage, some of them even come to watch the matches of their friends from different promotions.
This is all in his head a lot of the wrestlers from both companies are friends

All of the wrestlers are buddies, sounds like he's speaking on his own feelings.

I doubt that they really hate each other. If they did you wouldn’t see stars from aew at wwe at the royal rumble for there friends
— Cody Collins (@hcollins121416) February 12, 2023
Not from a wrestlers stand point it seems they all have god relationships and watch each others respective shows
— Gian (@xFloridaMan) February 12, 2023
Fans not only think Khans’s statement is incorrect but they also think that the president of Florida-based promotion is gaslighting the audience.
The war is between fans and corporates, plenty of people amongst each rosters are friends, dudes just gassing it.

If both promotions “hated each other” then you wouldn’t see wrestlers from both promotions being backstage at each other’s shows. Seems like TK and some fans are the only ones that think this is a war and that both promotions hate each other

Tony knows the “war” mentality between fans is less now than ever. so he is trying his best to reignite I think.
Hate is a strong word to use here. If there was true hate. You would not say you wanted to work with wwe, consider billy going on wwe tv or let talent do videos

Some fans also trolled AEW by complaining that its chief executive always speaks of WWE. They also reminded Khan to focus on his own products more.
I doubt WWE cares that much to hate AEW. They are aware of them, for sure. But I don't think AEW lives rent free in WWE's head like it seems to be on the other side.

Bro, just focus on your own product. Stop worrying about WWE and write good storylines. Not recycled ones.
— Gavin (@GavinSuarez77) February 13, 2023
These reactions by the pro wrestling fans establish their love for true wrestling. More than a storyline on ‘war’, they would prefer to see stars from both promotions performing their best.
