The rise of Cody Rhodes has shocked every fan who used to follow WWE in the early 2010s. The man who was under the shadow of his brother and father is now arguably a bigger star than both of them combined in WWE. But that isn’t the only shocking thing that Rhodes has delivered while showing his worth to the wrestling business.

This is the same achievement that even The Undertaker seems to be surprised about, as portrayed in the new documentary about Rhodes’ career that WWE released a few days earlier.

WWE recently released a documentary showing Rhodes’ rise from the mid-card to the main event of WrestleMania 39. All the way from his exit from WWE to his career outside the company, WWE included everything. One of the major milestones in his wrestling career was forming a wrestling company, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) with his friends, The Young Bucks, and Tony Khan.

This achievement was significant as AEW quickly rose to compete with WWE over talent, as many top stars left Vince McMahon’s company to join the Jacksonville-based promotion. In the documentary, The Undertaker had some words for Cody Rhodes, showing appreciation for what he did outside WWE.

He said, “This is a guy that was struggling and now here he is. He’s a top guy for a different company, that he helped put together. That’s pretty impressive.

But what part did Rhodes play in helping AEW in the wrestling business?

Even though being a wrestler for most of his life, Rhodes was a big help and so was his wife, Brandi Rhodes in helping set up AEW. The pair were instrumental in getting people to talk about the company in its starting days. Rhodes also signed up as the Executive Vice President to ensure success in the future of the business.

Being a WWE reject, Rhodes was more than ready to prove his worth to the business. But he showed his worth in more than just his role as a wrestler in the ring. Taking inspiration from his father, Dusty Rhodes’ amazing promoting skills, Cody Rhodes made sure to make AEW a household name and an alternative to WWE.

Seeing the competition between the two companies at the moment, it seems like Rhodes’ work in the initial run was instrumental in getting AEW its own image, away from WWE.
