The rivalries and storylines are a huge part of wrestling entertainment. Pitting two equal and opposite forces makes for a great clash. This was exactly how WWE set up the rivalry of two legends, Booker T and Kurt Angle at Survivor Series, in 2001. Moreover, the initial plan was to have a 3-match saga between the WWE Hall of Famers, with the third match deciding the victor. However, an innocent mishap from the match official, Charles Robinson, reduced it to two. Recently, the two titans of WWE got together and had some harsh remarks for the match official that night.

Booker T looked back on a ‘classic match’, that never came to be

In a recent episode of The Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T sat down with Kurt Angle to discuss their bitter rivalries and sweet memories from the Attitude Era. Both of them shared the ring many times and also share an immense respect for each other’s work. However, the Olympic wrestler still carries some regret for not getting a third match at ‘Survivor Series’ in 2001.

T said, “It was one of those matches, for me. I don’t know about you, Kurt. I felt like it was gonna be one of those classic matches, we was gonna be able to look back on.”

During their second face-off, the WWE slated King Booker to lose the match. So, the two would face off to decide the winner in a climactic third match. However, Robinson put a dent in those plans, with a miscalculation.

Angle added “Booker won the first, I was supposed to win the second. And this bas**rd won the second and there wasn’t a third match!” So what exactly happened for the official to get it wrong at the crucial juncture of the match?

Charles Robinson counted too soon, to end the match

Back in 2001, WWE booked Booker T and Kurt Angle for the Survivor Series. Where they were supposed to have a three-match showdown. However, during the second match-up, Booker T pinned Angle for the second win. This happened as the match official, Charles Robinson didn’t notice Angle’s kickout during the pin and went ahead with the countdown.

Booker said “I want all of you people to tweet Charles Robinson. Say, ‘What the hell happened to the third match?’. I’m dead serious. It’s his fault that you guys got robbed…” and claimed that wrestling fans got robbed because of Robinson.
