“They Thought I Had Issues at Home”: Rey Mysterio’s Famous Feud With Deceased WWE Legend Got Dominik Mysterio in Trouble at School

People working in the entertainment industry often break the fourth wall. However, when they get off stage and return to their lives, the fourth wall stares back at them. The WWE Superstar is the son of legendary pro wrestler Rey Mysterio. The former Royal Rumble winner was well known for his unique fighting style; however, he was also known for the stories he was a part of on the WWE. Lines between the reel and real life are also blurred for Dominik Mysterio.

Storylines are the key drivers of all WWE acts. While it is a known fact that the WWE is an entertainment industry, the brilliance of the WWE locker room makes people believe that these stories are real. Along similar lines, the staff and peers of young Dominik Mysterio’s school got concerned about him owing to the stories they saw on TV.

Dominick Mysterio opens up about problems at school

In an interview with Sean Ross Sapp of FightfulMag.com, Dominik Mysterio opened up about his life at school. He questioned the WWE Superstar about various things, including how he got by in school. He was also asked how his father’s on-screen presence influenced his peers. Answering his questions, the Judgment Day member said it wasn’t just the kids who thought WWE was real, but even the adults. “At the time, my teachers were very concerned about my home life. They had no clue. They thought I was actually in this custody battle,” recalled Dominick. 

Dominik revealed that his parents actually had to go down and speak with the staff regarding stuff. “They thought I had issues at home. But Mom and Dad had to go into school and talk to them and let them know it’s all good. It’s all part of a storyline,” said Dom.

He also shed light on the behavior of his peers towards him when they found that he is the son of the Lucha Warrior.

Dominik Mysterio reveals that the questions have not stopped

Speaking about the treatment he received from his peers, Dominik Mysterio said that he often received weird questions. “Everyone asked me who my real dad was,” said Dom. He said that because of the storylines that ran on WWE, he was often thrown into this question and was asked if Rey Mysterio was his real father.

“Still to this day, I get asked who my real dad is,” shared the WWE Superstar. He said that he had to do a lot of explaining to his peers. The realism with which all WWE wrestlers act is its biggest selling point. However, their families can also feel the repercussions of working in this industry.
