It’s important to keep a pro wrestling promotion regulated and in check. So, the management has to look out for things that should or should not be allowed for the safety of its competitors. To keep a company further away from controversies, sports promotions have to make and follow internalized rules. Tony Khan‘s AEW had to take a similar step as the company recently announced a new set of rules.

It looks like WWE’s competitor has decided to ban a list of moves and things that were allowed there up until now. While some fans appreciate the steps they have taken to protect the wrestlers, others are shocked that they had not banned all this until now. Let’s take a look at the things AEW has banned.

‘Fightful’ kept all the wrestling fans updated regarding AEW’s latest list, including banned moves. We can assume since the rules included the general safety and well-being of everyone present in the arena, violating them might result in serious consequences. According to Fightful, the list includes many moves.

Starting with unprotected chair shots or general shots to the back of the head, while also including the front of the head too. The company has also banned buckle bombs.

Moving forward with the list; seizure sells, and fencing responses are also not allowed anymore. The reason could simply be to create content that doesn’t trigger sensitive topics. AEW has also taken measures to protect the audience, both general and special guests. While stunts and physical inclusion of celebrities and extra staff will now be strictly prohibited, crowd interaction has also been limited.

This includes taking or offering food or drinks, getting bloodied in the crowd, or throwing bloody items in the audience.

The list of bans goes on in even more detail. Fans across the internet went through the rules and it has caused a division of opinions. Although everybody appears to support the decision, fans are taking sides on either appreciating the new decision or criticizing the fact that AEW hadn’t covered this already.

Fans react to AEW’s latest list of banned moves

As discussed above, the decision has divided the wrestling fans. We can see a variety of reactions. While some support, others criticize. Moreover, some fans even taunted some of AEW’s top wrestlers for their antics.

These fans took a jibe at both Jon Moxley and MJF because the stuff they were greatly known for is now being taken away by AEW. However, the wrestlers still have their character and talent with them to make themselves successful without unnecessary violence, now that certain moves have been banned.

This is the side of people who are appreciating the decision regardless of when AEW announced it. They like the fact that the company cares about its wrestlers and audience.
