Leaving WWE was one of the key decisions in Jon Moxley’s professional life. From floating around WWE’s mid-card, he went on to be the face of the rival company. Jon Moxley has had a career renaissance since coming to AEW. Winning titles left and right while also having great matches with wrestling talent from all over the world.
But Moxley has never forgotten the things that he went through in the most prominent sports entertainment company. Now and then, Moxley comments about the ineptitude he felt in the company back in his days. But this time, he didn’t even mean to criticize Vince McMahon‘s company, but it just happened.

Sitting down with his wife for another edition of Sessions with Renee Paquette, Moxley talked about a lot of things. He discussed everything from his stint in AEW; the drama surrounding the company to the new wrestlers in the company. But when his wife asked the former AEW World Champion about what he takes as inspiration from UFC, Moxley couldn’t help himself.
He said, “What I get from it, more than anything, is storytelling. Yeah, I’m not talking about that. Oh, he broke into somebody’s house. Or he throws the belt in the river.” Here he mentions two iconic storylines from the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Eras. One is a reference to Triple H breaking into Randy Orton’s house, while the other one is when Steve Austin throws The Rock’s Intercontinental belt in the river.
This won’t be the only time when Moxley or any other former WWE stars who moved to AEW took a dig at their former boss. After they topped PWI’s tag team list, former Raw tag team champions, FTR, posted a photo of Vince McMahon looking at a poster with the duo as well.

In praising Dana White, Moxley said, “Storylines like brawler vs grappler, veteran vs rookie. Simple stuff and see how those stories play out.” While being simple at first glance, these stories attract millions of fans to watch every move from White and it isn’t a surprise that Moxley is a fan of it. His AEW run has been characterized by stories told inside the ring, without much off-court shenanigans.
