CM Punk’s AEW tenure ended last week after a backstage fight with Jack Perry at AEW All In. The incident, which took place at London’s Wembley Stadium, led to Punk’s release, raising doubts about his wrestling future. The Young Bucks, renowned for their tag team prowess, were ready to entertain the idea of working with CM Punk, but with a catch.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Bucks were not outright against the notion of collaborating with the ‘Real World Champion.’ Instead, they had one stipulation: Punk needed to demonstrate reliability.

Punk’s history of issues with The Elite, which came to a head after AEW All Out 2022, resulted in all parties involved facing suspension from AEW programming. While The Bucks, along with Kenny Omega, made their triumphant return at AEW Full Gear in November, Punk had to bide his time until AEW Collision in June 2023 to re-enter the scene.

Even then, despite Punk’s willingness to work with The Elite, the group seemed hesitant to embrace the idea. They kept Punk and themselves on separate shows and separate at major events. It was revealed that discussions were held to arrange a meeting between Punk and The Bucks. But ultimately, The Bucks turned down the idea. One source close to the Bucks disclosed that if Punk could steer clear of controversies for six months, they might have been open to sitting down and working with him.
