It is hard to imagine what WWE would be without The Undertaker. Hence, as fans, we should be thankful that The Undertaker kept a level head while deciding his career. Especially knowing how easily the tides could have turned back in the day. The Deadman actually went against his father’s advice to pursue a career in professional wrestling.

The Undertaker is not simply a wrestler in the WWE history books; he is an entire era in himself. The only difference is that the era of The Phenom lasted as long as he competed. There is no one who can ever match or replace his legacy. However, at the very beginning of his career, his father did not see it this way. In fact, he had mixed feelings.
The reason The Undertaker’s father was both proud and disappointed
The Deadman revealed in his documentary “The Last Ride” that there was a time when he brought his father backstage. They were at a WWE event and The Phenom’s father was following him around, trying to understand his son’s new career. However, seeing his son get into character with his makeup and outfit made The Undertaker’s father feel uneasy.
The Phenom said his father had mixed feelings regarding his career choice as a whole. The Undertaker said.
“But there was not anybody any prouder than my dad. No one more upset about my career choice, but no one more proud by the end of it.”
The Deadman disclosed the chief reason behind his father being upset about The Phenom’s career choice.
“Because I was in college and I had a full scholarship and I decided I wanted to become a professional wrestler. He thought that was the stupidest thing.” The Phenom added how his father felt, “You get an education and you get to play basketball. Are you kidding me? And everything is paid for? Yes, sir. You’re walking from. What are you going to do in the rest of your life?”

However, The Phenom decided to go with his heart and pursue wrestling. As a result, he created history and became one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time. Moreover, he inspired many other wrestlers, as well as millions of his fans with his work. In the end, as The Undertaker revealed, his father ended up becoming his biggest fan.
