The Undertaker is an iconic figure in professional wrestling, with his unmatched WrestleMania streak firmly embedded in the sport’s history. Although Brock Lesnar brought an end to this remarkable streak at WrestleMania 30 in 2014, the decision remains a topic of ongoing debate and controversy.
Reflecting on the momentous event almost a decade later, The Undertaker recently shared insights on the sentiments within the WWE locker room regarding the ending of his streak. During a candid discussion on his Six Feet Under podcast, he revealed that the backstage atmosphere was genuinely heated at the time.
He said, “Among fans, even amongst the talent because most of the guys were, they were pi***d. They were like, ‘Man, The Streak shouldn’t have been broke.’ That’s the business.” The Deadman succumbing to a loss frustrated many fans and figures backstage.
He later added, “I don’t have any decision in that but a lot of the boys that were part of making that streak something, making it mean what it meant. They were like ‘Damn man, why are you taking away? Jim Ross advocates for continuing The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak
On his Grilling JR podcast in 2021, WWE Hall of Famer expressed regret about The Undertaker’s streak ending. He says, “I was not for it when Undertaker’s streak [was] ended by Lesnar. Not a knock on Brock, just simply I thought that was such a unique calling card.” Jim Ross emphasized the uniqueness and significance of The Undertaker’s undefeated streak.
He did state that even in 2021, he still wishes it had remained intact. The Undertaker officially retired at Survivor Series in 2020, concluding his illustrious career with a victory over AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36 in a Boneyard Match.
