The Undertaker is one of the most experienced wrestlers that WWE has seen. While Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair have their place cemented in the Mount Rushmore of pro wrestling, nobody can claim to have been in the ring longer than the Undertaker. He shared locker rooms with Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Dwayne Johnson, John Cena, and even Roman Reigns.

So, it comes as no surprise that The Deadman has made some decisions that didn’t go according to plan. His vision of the future of pro wrestling and WWE coincided with that of Vince McMahon. And as he explained in one of his interviews, the Undertaker reminisced about the time he took that leap for none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

In an interview with Kevin Hart, The Undertaker revealed how he helped in bringing top stars to the company. He said, “Definitely, one of them would be your buddy, The Rock, way back in the day. You could tell he was right here, on the threshold. We were in a match on Monday Night Raw, a bunch of different things going on.”

“It got kinda screwed up, and I had to audible. I had to change things. I’m the tenured vet there, right, and I remember telling him, “Alright kid, it’s your night!” He hit me with the Rock Bottom, he beat me. It was the right thing to do for business. I told Vince, “I said, look, we were in trouble time-wise”, he said, “I trust you.”

The match that the Undertaker is talking about here is the 2000 Christmas Raw main event. We got two of the most iconic wrestlers in history for the main event of a random Raw. The Attitude Era was crazy in all the right places.

But one thing that seems very apparent is that The Undertaker changing the result may have altered history. Not that wins and losses are permanent things in WWE, but if The Rock had lost to Taker, it would have halted his momentum just a bit.

Moving away from the what-if situation, this is a classic example of why the Undertaker was one of the greatest. Even taking away his character and his in-ring skills, there will be no other wrestler like The Phenom.
