Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is one of the wittiest WWE Superstars in history. His wit knows no end when it comes to promos in WWE or his social media banter. While fans are clamoring for The Rock’s return to WWE, he has finally addressed WWE. However, it is not exactly about his return to the WWE ring yet his reply remains hilarious.
WWE recently took to its Twitter handle that is partnered up with FOX to ask fans a question. Moreover, since WWE’s blue brand SmackDown airs on FOX, the question came in the wake of this week’s episode of the show. But it ended up receiving replies from more than just fans as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson had a lot to say in response to the tweet.
Easy answer.
C’mon @WWE.
The superstar who this show was named after.
The superstar responsible for “Smackdown” officially becoming a word in the @MerriamWebster dictionary.
And that superstar is…Harvey Whippleman aka Downtown Bruno! 😉👊🏾#ifyasmell https://t.co/olXCcDdUuj

Sometimes it is hard to fathom the effect The Rock has had on pop culture. However, one is reminded of the fact that professional wrestling’s second-biggest brand was his brainchild. The Rock made the word “SmackDown” famous by using it regularly in his iconic promos during his prime.
Eventually, when WWE decided they wanted a second weekly event, they just knew what to name it. Additionally, back when the show was introduced, it was deemed as The Great One’s show in the storyline. In fact, The Rock competed in a match against Triple H in the first-ever episode of SmackDown back in August 1999.

Who is Harvey Wippleman that The Rock mentioned in his tweet?
While The Rock is clearly responsible for making WWE’s SmackDown brand famous, he credited someone else in his tweet. He said that any person would think of Harvey Wippleman when they look at the SmackDown logo. Harvey Wippleman used to work for WWE, and he was best known for his role as a manager in the company.
He is also known in the wrestling industry as “Downtown Bruno”. Wippleman worked his way throughout the industry during the 1980s and 90s. Additionally, The Rock goes way back with Wippleman and even gifted him a brand new truck once. Moreover, The Rock has spoken about Wippleman’s effect on his wrestling career several times in the past.
