The WWE Universe’s wait for WrestleMania 40 began right after the conclusion of WrestleMania 39. The sole reason for this was the collective backstabbing experienced by fans when Cody Rhodes lost the WWE title match. Watching Roman Reigns cheat in the match stung everyone. However, Dwayne Johnson seems to have inflicted more damage on fans by stepping on that wound.

Dwayne Johnson recently took a shot at Roman Reigns and hinted at an imminent clash with him soon. Now, it seems like Cody Rhodes will not be facing Reigns at WrestleMania 40, but The Rock will brawl The Tribal Chief instead. This has made several fans extremely unhappy. But, what does The American Nightmare have to say about this?

Cody Rhodes carries a significant storyline built on his determination to fulfill a legacy left by his father, Dusty Rhodes. His ambition is to secure the World Championship, an achievement that eluded his father throughout his career. While initially eyeing the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, his path to dethrone Roman Reigns appears uncertain.

WWE is thriving with record-breaking success and financial gains from megastars. A crucial decision about WrestleMania 40 will shape the entirety of 2024 and Cody Rhodes finds himself at the center of this pivotal moment. In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, Rhodes acknowledged the possibility of The Rock entering the mix against Roman Reigns, potentially affecting his own opportunity.

He said, “Nothing but respect. I’m a Rock fan. I don’t think he’s the type that would come in & meddle with a story that’s been being told over the past two years. I think he’s probably up to something else, but you never know with WWE,” expressing respect for The Rock and being a fan. Nevertheless, he believes that WWE’s carefully crafted story over the past year might not be disrupted by The Great One.
