After years of waiting patiently, the WWE Universe finally got their wish granted. On the September 15 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Dwayne Johnson returned to his old home. Fans were beyond happy to see the shocking return of the WWE icon.

While the entire WWE community buzzed with the details of ‘how’ and ‘when’ his return took place, WWE legend Kevin Nash talked about ‘why’. He claimed ‘The Great One’ returned for a reason and it is to keep his brand name strong.

In a recent episode of Kliq This podcast, Nash reacted to Johnson returning to WWE after four long years. He also made some comments on why he thinks he returned to WWE two weeks before. According to Nash, Johnson didn’t do it for the money, but for his PR status.

He said, “Well number one, to keep his brand strong. Who knows how long [the SAG-AFTRA strike] will go on? Dwayne is double-pinched in this, because not only is Dwayne a member of the Screen Actors Guild as an actor, but he’s also a producer, so [he has] a pension health plan. I don’t think he’s doing it for the payday.

“But he’s definitely doing it from a PR standpoint. I don’t think it’s ever a bad thing to come back to where you started and show the world you’re the biggest star in [Hollywood],” he added. Being the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, Johnson has amassed a fortune.

Therefore, Nash believes that Johnson made an appearance to keep his image and his brand image strong in front of the audience. Well, whatever may be the reason, one thing is for sure is that The Rock’s SmackDown return has broken records.

Dwayne Johnson’s return registers record-breaking numbers

Johnson’s return to WWE on 09/15 was a huge success. According to the reports, the SmackDown on Johnson’s return counted 2.6 million viewers on Fox, which was 23% more than what Fox had recorded a week before.
