WWE Superstars usually restrict their rivalries to the screen. However, sometimes these rivalries go beyond the ring and enter the real-life realm. Such an incident occurred with Chris Jericho and Goldberg during the mid-90s in WCW.

During this time, Goldberg was gaining the reputation of a raging bull. On the other hand, the current AEW Star was just beginning his climb upwards. As a result, Goldberg refused to work with Jericho several times owing to the massive disparity in stature. Of course, this did not sit well with Y2J.

Unable to contain his frustration any more, Chris Jericho called out Goldberg on WCW TV. Since this was not what the management wanted, they booked him against Goldberg in a squash match.

Jericho vehemently disagreed with this “unfair” diktat. Meanwhile, Goldberg was of the opinion that feuding with someone of Jericho’s physical stature would hurt his reputation and credibility.

By the time Goldberg came to WWE, Jericho had already made a name for himself. Finally, in 2002, the two of them found themselves in a backstage incident, indulging in a yelling match. It ended with Chris Jericho putting Goldberg into a headlock.

The backstage altercation initiated with Jericho confronting Goldberg. According to Jericho, Goldberg had been burying Jericho in front of Kevin Nash.

On the contrary, Goldberg accused Jericho of destroying his credibility online. The situation escalated to a point where Goldberg grabbed Jericho by the throat.

Since Jericho had experience as a Calgary bouncer, he used that expertise to break out and take Goldberg down. The idea was to keep him down as long as possible because if Goldberg got back up, he would easily demolish Chris Jericho. Finally, others arrived and broke the fight.

Chris Jericho finally battled Goldberg

Goldberg and Jericho had their match at the very first Raw exclusive Pay-per-view – Bad Blood. The entire storyline revolved around their beef from WCW. At Bad Blood, Goldberg overpowered Chris Jericho and won the match.
