John Cena and Roman Reigns is a money-making match

Even if all factors of this match are kept aside, this is a revenue-making match blockbuster for the company.

Firstly, Cena’s return in itself is a huge fan magnet. Moreover, now that tours have begun, there is no way that the WWE Universe will not turn up to the arena to watch John Cena live.

Secondly, Roman Reigns is the top name on the roster. It has become almost impossible for the company to book him against a Superstar and put the other Superstar over. It’s just not believable that somebody else defeated The Tribal Chief. He’s become that huge!

Lastly, Reigns is a top heel, which means that ideally, he should drop the title against a babyface. There is no babyface on the roster who can defeat Reigns, so, the WWE brings back the best one in the history of babyfaces to challenge Roman Reigns.

Even though John Cena wanted to become heel at one point and even had a gear made for the heel turn. He just continued to be babyface and take over the industry.
