The advent of social media has meant that there are various platforms that have come into existence. Each one has its own audience and a specific age group that they target. Sometimes, to connect to these target audiences, famous personalities have to create an account on some of these platforms. However, often they have to reluctantly make an account, as happened with WWE superstar Rhea Ripley recently.

She has emerged as one of the most popular wrestlers in WWE over the last year. Ripley joining the notorious faction The Judgment Day has worked wonders for her career. It has meant that she is among the most sort-after performers on the main roster. This also means that ‘Mami’ has to be present on all major social media services. She recently joined a major short video-making application admittedly without her wishes.

Ripley announced on her Instagram story that she had entered the world of TikTok. She shared a screenshot of her profile on the platform, along with a caption. It read, “Forced to do this against my own will… Enjoy”. This clearly means that the 2023 women’s Royal Rumble match winner is not quite ecstatic about joining the social media juggernaut.

The higher-officials behind the scene is speculated to have been the influence behind the performer’s decision. It would be to target Ripley’s fanbase that is present in TikTok. And within hours of joining the Chinese app, she already has over 7k followers in her account. A number that is expected to rise even further in the days to come.

Performers in the past also have joined applications against their wishes

The WWE wrestlers in the past have also been known to be joining platforms against their wishes. Wrestler-turned-actor John Cena also once described how he entered the world of Instagram. Like Ripley, he was also forced into it. However, he decided to make it one of the most cryptic celebrity accounts. The Cenation Leader constantly posts images without captions to his account. His followers have to make out the context of the image themselves.

On the wrestling front, Ripley has punched her ticket to WrestleMania 39. And she has chosen a date with the SmackDown women’s champion, Charlotte Flair, at the event. It certainly promises to be an enticing clash, but has its fair share of detractors.
