“That’s Ridiculous..We All Are Human Beings”: John Cena Once Pummeled an Interviewer for Making ’Shameful’ Remarks on His Relationship Status

John Cena got married to his girlfriend Shay Shariatzadeh in 202o. However, before he found his true love in 2019, Cena constantly encountered a barrage of questions about his place in a relationship. Now in an old clip that re-surfaced, Cena was accused of not being able to marry a person who’s not of his stature. A perplexed Cena then gave a befitting response.  

Cena has been romantically involved with WWE star Nikki Bella before marrying Shariatzadeh, who has a degree in electrical and electronics engineering.

Cena’s response to a difficult question makes him stand out

Cena had a rough breakup with former WWE superstar Nikki Bella, after being in a relationship for six years. Post the breakup, he wanted solitude and only focus on his Hollywood career. However, in 2018 on the SI Media podcast, hosted by Jimmy Traina, the 16-time champion encountered a bizarre question.

In the clip posted by JohnCenaCrews, Traina exclaimed how he thought Cena could never date someone who isn’t famous or a celebrity. 

A rather stunned John Cena responded by saying: “That’s ridiculous. I think that’s just sadness, it’s so horrible, and it’s thinking like that is what’s wrong. That’s just wrong. We are all human beings. You are just hitting me in the eye with the interpretation.”

The miffed superstar continued by saying: “I can’t be with someone who’s not famous? Why cuz they don’t value or believe in the same things that I do? That is totally not true. And not only are you putting my position on a pedestal, but you are also undercutting everyone else that has been in public eye, and that’s a shame.”

Jimmy Traina eventually apologized for the same by saying “I am sorry”.

While the outburst might seem harsh, it surely serves as a befitting response. Cena not only defended himself but also other celebrities who just crave normal lives and wish to be treated as individuals. 

Cena’s take on the entire issue got a unanimously positive reaction and applause from his fans.

He did eventually prove the interviewer wrong, as he ended up getting married to a non celebrity in Shariatzadeh a couple of years later.

Cena met his then-girlfriend Shay Shariatzadeh in 2019 at a restaurant in Vancouver, Canada. The couple got married in a small ceremony at the attorney’s office in Tampa, Florida, and have been together ever since.

Nearly two years after their successful marriage, they once again hosted a second wedding celebration in Vancouver, in 2022.  The Iranian-born Shariatzadeh, who was brought up in Canada, changed Cena’s perception of marriage and totally turned him around for the better.

Cena, who always proved his naysayers wrong, this time did it in the personal sphere.
