Lately, rumors of WWE legalizing betting on their matches have been roaming around the wrestling world. WWE, the professional wrestling company that is known for its dynamic nature, is reportedly discussing the legalization of betting with gaming regulators in Colorado and Michigan.
However, it is not as easy as it seems, as the results in WWE matches are predetermined. The American pro wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer reveals that WWE might have to alter the entire creative process as a cost for legalizing the betting.

Meltzer reveals the changes that WWE has to make to facilitate the betting system
In between the rumors of WWE’s deteriorating relations with FOX, another news got the spotlight. Recently, during ‘Wrestling Observer Radio’, Meltzer talks about the changes that WWE might have to make after legalizing betting.
He said that WWE might have to keep the results secret even from the performers until the betting closes. He even mentioned that any kind of violation in this might create huge trouble for the company.
Discussing the matter, Dave Meltzer said, “If they do this, legitimately, they can’t tell anyone. It’s not like you’re gonna sneak around the system, there’s gonna be safeguards and everything. The minute they tell people and it gets out, or even if it doesn’t get out. They’ll have people investigating them. And, they’d be in an incredible amount of trouble for gaming violations and things like that. That’s nothing to mess with. They literally can’t do that. So the talent will not be able to know their finishes. At least, in the matches that are being gambled on.”
According to Meltzer, the betting system will mostly affect the champions
Meltzer further explained that this new decision of WWE will mostly affect the champions. He mentioned that champions like Roman Reigns, might require knowing where their storyline is heading.

Meltzer explained, “The guys that this is gonna affect the most is your champions, your Charlotte Flair, your Roman Reigns, Bianca Belair, Usos, and all of them. They’re the ones who need more than anyone, especially Roman Reigns, to know where he’s going and what he’s doing. And those are the ones who are not going to be allowed to be told, and those are the ones with the most pull.”
It is not official yet whether WWE is legalizing betting or not. But if they do, then it is possible that Vince McMahon and Triple H have to change the entire creative process for facilitating the new system.
