Sami Zayn has proved that hard work and success go hand-in-hand. From being a regular wrestler on the roster to becoming the Elimination Chamber’s highlight, Zayn has come a long way. The wrestler recently shared the moments of his career’s beginning. He also explained how he got interested in WWE as a profession.

Roman Reignsblood rival put up a great show at the main event of the Elimination Chamber this year in February 2023. Even WWE’s CCO piled a heap of praise for his performance. If that wasn’t enough content to feed the fans, WWE featured a ‘behind-the-scenes’ interview regarding his big title bout. In the interview, he let all the fans in on his first WWE experience.

The Battery Man was 17 years old when he made his first pro wrestling debut in March 2002. However, that wasn’t the instance that gave him a push to become a pro wrestler. In fact, it was back in ‘Survivor Series’ in 1997, produced by WWF at the time, that Zayn developed his love for wrestling. In the interview, he mentioned how at just 13 years of age, he was sitting in the crowd thinking to himself, “wow! I’d like to be a wrestler.” Considering the odds of the situation, Zayn commented on his career success by saying, “that’s basically unfathomable that you’d end up in that position yet here we are.

Such top-class wrestling shows usually took place in a city called Laval, which was nearby to his home city. At the beginning, when Zayn used to sit far away in the crowd, he remembered how it felt “unfathomable”. However, as he kept moving close when “the ring’s right there and there’s no guard rails and everything, that seems much more attainable.” As he grew into the sport, he stopped attending the smaller shows as an audience and aimed for the big ones.

While telling his thought process, he also mentioned that he stopped only when he had his breakthrough into the wrestling world. Little did the aspiring wrestler know that his decision to aim for the bigger picture would really come true one day.
