Ten years ago, during an episode of WWE RAW on September 12th, iconic color commentator Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler was calling a tag team match involving Kane and Daniel Bryan.
While calling the tag team match, Lawler collapsed and was rushed into the back, leaving the fans worried that something was horribly wrong.
His announcing partner Michael Cole addressed those worries, saying that ‘King’ was receiving CPR and had suffered a heart attack. According to some reports, Lawler was clinically dead for around 20 minutes, but he recovered miraculously and returned to the commentary booth only three months later.
Jerry Lawler celebrated his Death Day
Since this incident, Jerry Lawler has made a full recovery and is in good health today. But for many people watching at home and in attendance, it was a scary moment. One of the beloved pro wrestling personalities was battling for his life while those in the arena did not know what was going on.

However, Lawler took the tenth anniversary of this incident in an interesting manner. In typical pro wrestling fashion, Lawler celebrated his ‘death anniversary’ by wrestling a match in Nashville. The WWE Hall of Famer tweeted he was wrestling at the state fair in Nashville and celebrated the 10th anniversary of his death day.

At 72, having survived a massive scare, he is still fairly active on the independent wrestling scene as well.
Alongside Jim Ross, Lawler was the voice of WWE for many years. The duo were inducted into the Hall of Fame and are often considered one of the best commentary teams of all time.
Fans hail the King
There is no way the WWE Universe is not responding to this interesting death anniversary celebration of ‘The King’. After Lawler tweeted his ‘celebration’ photo, many fans appreciated one of their favorites still going strong. They took to Twitter to congratulate the King on his health and wished him well.
