CM Punk‘s AEW ‘All In’ backstage footage is going viral nowadays. Tony Khan deserves credit for the same as he decided to publicize the footage containing the evidence of the physical altercation that happened between Punk and Jack Perry, leading to the former’s firing from the company. While the reason behind this decision is unclear, fans are divided between appreciating and criticizing Khan.

Eric Bischoff has also joined the latter, calling out Tony Khan for showing the backstage footage during a live show. Although Bischoff did not comment on the decision, he claimed that the hype has dulled the purpose for which Tony Khan used the footage.

WWE legend claims CM Punk has become more popular

In September 2023, AEW announced that they had fired “The Best in the World” after his backstage altercation with co-star Jack Perry. Eventually, Punk signed with WWE and recently commented on his departure from AEW. This probably led to Tony Khan showing the altercation footage at one of his live shows.

Eric Bischoff talked about the same on his podcast 83 Weeks as he said, “CM Punk has more equity now than he has ever had at any time in his career. He has blown by his peak, that being his original run in WWE. He’s blown by that, thanks to this stupid s**t.” The former WCW employee added, “Tony Khan is doing a better job of getting CM Punk over in WWE than WWE is.

Although Bischoff is not questioning why the CEO of AEW played this move, he is pointing out the irony that while Khan wanted to take revenge on Punk by probably hurting his public image; he ended up doing the opposite. There are pro wrestling industry veterans who are on Bischoff’s side on the topic. However, some even support Tony Khan, seeing Punk in a negative light.

Punk gets personally called out

After the backstage footage was made public, Ryback also sat down on his show to review the hot topic. While he did not side with Tony Khan directly, Ryback criticized his co-star by making personal comments about him. Not only did he add fuel by saying that the wrestler could have caused serious harm, but Ryback also claimed that CM Punk is not a reliable person overall.

The former wrestler brutally ribbed the Chicago-based wrestler and indirectly chose to side with Tony Khan during one of his recent podcast episodes. However, he did not analyze the situation like Bischoff, who pointed out how Khan’s move ended up profiting his ex-employee.
