“Becky’s Time at the Top Is Over”: Fans Run Riot on Social Media After Becky Lynch Captures the NXT Women’s Championship

Ever since Vince McMahon rebranded NXT to NXT 2.0, there has been an influx of Main Roster superstars to elevate the NXT 2.0 talent. Dolph Ziggler, AJ Styles, The New Day, and Finn Balor have spent time at NXT 2.0 for promotional purposes. Recently, Becky Lynch also turned the attention of the WWE Universe towards NXT.

 NXT’s Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton challenged Lynch in a move that proved too costly for the former. However, Lynch’s win over Tiffany Stratton has not made every wrestling fan happy as they expressed their displeasure on social media.

Becky Lynch wins NXT Title to become Grand Slam Champion

After Becky Lynch’s win over Trish Stratus at Payback, WWE NXT Champion Tiffany Stratton met Lynch backstage. In the segment, she made fun of Lynch for never being a NXT Champion during Lynch’s NXT days. ‘The Man’ looked offended by Stratton’s words and challenged her for a title match at the following NXT Show, which Tiffany Stratton accepted without a fuss.

In a hard-fought battle that went to and fro between the two superstars, Stratton got enough opportunity to showcase her athleticism and strength. Lynch finished the match with a ‘Manhandle Slam’ after Stratton failed to hit her finisher ‘Prettiest Moonsault Ever’. It ended Straton’s 100-day reign as the Champion.

Responding to the victory, WrestleOps posted on X on 13th September with the caption, “In your mind the right decision? #WWENXT”. The tweet had a picture of WWE Superstar Becky Lynch holding the WWE NXT Woman’s Championship belt.

The win ensured that Becky Lynch is now one of the six female superstars to complete a Grand Slam victory. Asuka, Sasha Banks (Mercedes Mone), Charlotte Flair, Bayley, and Rhea Ripley are the other female stars on the list. The Grand Slam Championship includes RAW and SmackDown Women’s Title, Women’s tag team title (main roster), and the NXT Women’s Championship title.

After the match, Lynch thanked the NXT Universe and called herself a ‘Grand Slam Man’. She said, “Me and Seth Rollins, we’re both champions. Look at us, controlling the business.” Her husband, Seth Rollins holds the distinction as WWE World Heavyweight champion. Despite witnessing a monumental occasion, the wrestling community expressed their displeasure at the booking choice.

Wrestling fans express their qualms over questionable booking

Wrestling fans had questions over the booking, as Lynch is a top star who competed for a title in the developmental brand. While WWE had reasons to book Lynch into the match with the Grand Slam angle, fans did not take kindly to Lynch’s victory and slammed WWE and Lynch for the victory.
