Whether it be WWE or UFC, the fans booed. While they respected her, Rousey was always the heel in the match, with the opponent being the underdog. And we all know how much people love an underdog. Ronda Rousey talks about her big return at Royal Rumble 2022
In a rare interview with Daniel Cormier asks Rousey about her baby face return to WWE. Ronda replied, “I was expecting that! I came out with my guard up, and I think I didn’t get to enjoy that moment, because… that’s what I got on the way out. I blocked them out, and I didn’t let them in. And I just went in and did my job and got out, and I think I kind of missed out on really enjoying that moment because I was expecting the worst in people. And that’s how the WWE Universe gets you.”
“I know, and I was supposed to come back as a heel! Vince was like, well, they popped for her real big, so she’s baby face now. So I recorded a heel interview afterwards, and everyone was like, what the hell? The next Monday I’m like, okay I’m coming in as a heel, and they’re like, no…you need to smile. You need to stop being a b***h.”

Winning this year’s Royal Rumble, everyone expected Rousey to get her re-match with Becky Lynch. But she decided to subvert the expectations of fans and went for Charlotte Flair. This was a terrible decision, as neither the feud nor the match delivered what the fans were expecting. And the baby face turn hurt Ronda Rousey’s character.

The fans aggressively revolted against this decision and at the next PPV, Ronda won the title. But Sasha Banks and Naomi, walking out, derailed her reign as champion.
