There aren’t many professional wrestlers who can match The Undertaker in terms of ability and legacy. He gained a reputation as one of Vince McMahon’s best inventions. Notably, with his towering height and menacing size, nobody would really want to rile him up as he can chokeslam them with ease.

In a similar vein, Stone Cold Steve Austin recalled a time before joining the WWE when he irritated The Deadman and then received a lesson from him that he will never forget.

Taker made an appearance in Memphis as Master of Pain, where he paired with the Soul Taker, also known as The God Father, and set up to face the Texas Rattlesnake in a tag team match. Taker and Austin were supposed to ride together to the promotion building before this event began, but this didn’t happen, and Austin enraged Taker.

What did The Undertaker get upset about, for which he punished Austin?

Stone Cold revealed in an interview how he unintentionally enraged Taker. He stated, “Me and The Undertaker were gonna ride together that night. Something happened, and they were gonna keep him heel and I’d come as a babyface so we couldn’t ride together.”

 “And so I just made the off comment to Mark, who I didn’t even know at the time. But I think we’re two Texas guys. He gets my sense of humor. I said okay we can’t ride tonight. I’ll see you tonight at the building. I’ll stretch your a** in the ring. That’s what I said to him, well I p****d him off.”

He further claimed that he was unaware of Taker’s anger over the statement and that Taker had put him in a Japanese stretch hold during the match, which prevented him from moving until Taker decided to release the hold. He quickly understood that his words had upset Taker, and as a result, he was punishing him.

The fact that he said he will crush him in the ring and this didn’t sit well with The Phenom. Although this was their first encounter, both Austin and Taker have since participated in several WWE contests, establishing a solid bond between them.
