The entire wrestling world is well aware of one of its charismatic professional wrestlers, Eddie Guerrero, whose saddening demise left everyone in a state of shock. The popularity of Guerrero was not restricted to the U.S. only but he was hugely over in other parts of the world too. Over the years, many wrestlers have honored his legacy and recently an AEW star also paid tribute to the legend. However, a former WCW wrestler didn’t approve of his kind gesture.
AEW’s Japanese star Konosuke Takeshita’s actions in his match against MJF didn’t sit well with former WCW wrestler Konnan.

Eddie Guerrero had his final match on the November 11, 2005, edition of SmackDown, which resulted in his win against Mr. Kennedy. However, two days later, on November 13, he died due to acute heart failure. Since that day, the wrestling world couldn’t recover from the deep loss. Numerous wrestlers across promotions have either paid tribute to him or recalled the selfless acts of his pro wrestling days.
AEW star Takeshita was the latest to pay a tribute to the Latino Heat. During his singles match against MJF, he performed an iconic Eddie Guerrero taunt before executing the legend’s finisher, the Frog Splash. But on the latest episode of his Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Konnan hit out on the 27-year-old Japanese star for his antics.
Konnan said, “Well Takeshita, whatever, he’s got heat with me, and he’s lucky I wasn’t in El Paso. Because when he went up, and he did the Eddie Guerrero thing for the frog splash, you’re not Mexican dude, I don’t care… Stick to your nationality.”
So far Takeshita hasn’t responded to Konnan’s words. Even though the youngest KO-D Openweight Champion was criticized by a former wrestler, a big push in AEW is awaiting him.
Takeshita’s upcoming big push in AEW
As per the claims made by noted wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, the Japanese star will soon be rising in the Jacksonville-based Promotion with a major storyline. According to his statement, Takeshita’s future could be bright in AEW.
The Florida-based promotion already made the young star an ‘All Elite’ in November 2022. The reason behind him getting good creative push is nothing but his impressive matches. In his journey with the promotion, he has already faced the biggest names of the company, like Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston, and several others. The superstar has already wrestled for over 10 years with his unique style, and now this has resulted in his success.
