The latest WWE SmackDown episode featured three ongoing title feuds. Those included Roman Reigns vs Goldberg for Universal Title, Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey for SmackDown Women’s title, and Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental title. The Universal and Women’s title matches are ahead at the Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 38.

As Elimination Chamber is next week in Saudi Arabia, they taped on SmackDown this week. They tapped it after the latest show was over. They announced the Intercontinental Match for next week’s show.

After the show ended, WWE on their Twitter, shared a post announcing the latest title change. They will telecast the match next week on Friday. The tweet said, 

“BREAKING: New Champion crowned at #Smackdown tapings in New Orleans, LA!

As per the WWE website, it was about the Intercontinental Championship that changed hands. They will televise the match between Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sami Zayn for the title next week on Friday. Clearly, Sami Zayn defeated Nakamura for the WWE Intercontinental Champion.

It was disappointing for some fans to see this announcement one week before they would witness the match on television. But, the fans of Sami Zayn are happy to see him win the Intercontinental Title for the third time in his career and hopefully, he will enter WrestleMania 38 as a champion.

WWE superstar Sami Zayn removed from Jackass Forever premiere

Johnny Knoxville appeared on SmackDown in January and announced his entry into the Royal Rumble. Apart from the Royal Rumble, he also had a short feud with Sami Zayn. Both had an exchange of words on some episodes, but in the end, Sami eliminated Knoxville at Royal Rumble.

Sami Zayn appeared at the premiere of Knoxville’s new movie Jackass Forever as a gesture of respect. Knoxville came out and told his bodyguards to take Sami out of the premiere. It is a sign that the feud is not over and Knoxville could appear on SmackDown again.

As of now, there are no speculations about Knoxville having a contract with WWE, but with Sami as the new IC champion now, WWE could push their feud at WrestleMania 38 for the ultimate prize.
