John Cena is name synonymous with the industry. The Hollywood icon has won the world championship 16 times and is a fan favorite. For someone who has traversed the wrestling industry with such proficiency, his words of wisdom are something many love to seek.

Such is also the case of legendary WWE star Brian Pillman’s son, Brian Pillman Jr. a.k.a Lexis King. The NXT star recently opened up about his experience and how the masterclass by Cena changed how he viewed certain things.

In a recent episode of Chris Van Vliet’s podcast, Pillman Jr. opened up about the impromptu session taken by the Leader of the Cenation. He said that one day, Cena showed up at the WWE Performance Centre after stars on the NXT roster texted him. At first, he was just curious about what the 16-time world champion had to say but he added that he was glad he attended the session. King said, I’m so glad I went I mean it was the most enlightening.”

While the session was overall an informative one, he talked about one particular thing said by Cena that helped him change his perspective. King said, One of the coolest things he said was that like it was just like you can’t control the booking you know you can’t control who’s where and what belt or this that or the other he’s like but you could be the best version of said character.”

Coming from the 46-year-old star himself, it is something that fans could agree upon. Before he became the face of WWE, Cena had donned many other roles. These included his prototype gimmick and his infamous rapper kayfabe. However, it took some time for WWE and Cena to find what works best for both of them.

During his time at AEW, Brian Pillman Jr. used to go by his real name carrying on his late father’s legacy. However, things took a hard turn when he joined WWE.

Right off the bat, he has announced that he will be renouncing his association with his late father. While he will continue to honor his father’s legacy, inside the ring, he is by himself, for himself. It could be said that King is doing something similar to the lines of Dominik Mysterio, who has renounced his association with his father, Rey Mysterio. While Dirty Dom is praised for doing so, do you think John Cena’s wise words will help King achieve the same?
