Fans know very well that WWE and most wrestling promotions have storylines to add some drama to the in-ring action. And although the wrestling matches are scripted, the moves that the wrestlers perform in the ring are all real. While a miscalculated move can result in a fatal botch, even exerting oneself too much could lead to a physical breakdown, as in the recent case of an AEW star.

The fan favorite and current AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo had a medical scare as he collapsed backstage after his match last night in Mexico City.

The fast-paced and intense in-ring action sometimes leads to wrestlers encountering injuries right in front of their fans. A good example from recent times is the case of Brock Lesnar, who was busted wide open at ‘Backlash’ during his match with Cody Rhodes.

More recently, just last night, El Hijo del Vikingo, who is known in wrestling circles to be a massive risk-taker, collapsed backstage. This happened at AAA’s event ‘TripleMania XXXI: Mexico City’. Vikingo defended his AAA Mega Championship in a four-way bout against ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey, Daga, and Jack Cartwheel and emerged victorious from that battle.

But after the match, he unexpectedly collapsed after going backstage, causing panic among onlookers. Paramedics immediately arrived at the scene, put him on a stretcher, and rushed him to the hospital.

It’s clearly visible in the video that everyone backstage was really worried for Vikingo. Later, news emerged that Vikingo was doing fine. Apparently, he was dehydrated and hadn’t had much to eat prior to the match. Nevertheless, worried fans took to Twitter/X to wish him a speedy recovery.

Fans are hoping that it’s nothing serious and Vikingo gets well soon

The video of Vikingo being rushed to the hospital immediately went viral after being posted on the social media platform. Prayers started flowing in with fans wishing Vikingo a speedy recovery.

One fan speculated that he smashed his head on the ring apron’s edge.

Another fan was surprised that it took this long as Vikingo has been putting his body on the line for quite some time.

One fan expressed his clear concern for wrestlers in general doing high-risk maneuvers. He said, “This is what happens when you do crazy high risk spots too much. They do this in aew all the time if this keeps happening somebody’s gonna die in the ring”.
