While there’s little doubt about Ronda Rousey’s technical acumen when it comes to wrestling, she has emerged as one of the most divisive figures in the WWE in recent times. ‘Rowdy’ Ronda is inching towards a major milestone at the promotion- holding onto the SmackDown Women’s Championship for 100 days. She defeated former champion Liv Morgan to win the title. However, it hasn’t been a very happy reign.
A part of WWE fans loves to hate Rousey. They have been critical of Rousey’s lousy mic skills. The rage was so much so that at one point #FireRondaRousey started trending, as WWE fans demanded her ouster.
It wasn’t any different when the former UFC great decided to level cheating allegations on other WWE superstars. The team of Rousey and Shayna Baszler lost to Liv Morgan and Tegan Nox on the December 9th episode of SmackDown. Raquel Rodriquez, whose ringside appearance forced Rousey to have a confrontation with her, influenced the match result in Morgan and Nox’s favor.

No wonder ‘The Baddest Woman on the Planet’ issued a threat to the three on Instagram, while accusing the “glitter twins” of indulging in cheating.

However, it didn’t sit well with the fans.
“What goes around, comes around”
Several users pointed to Rousey’s own flawed tactics, while some called her out for being a sore loser.
“I mean…what goes around, comes around, right? When you take cheap shots on ppl backstage, ppl love seeing you lose. It’s pretty simple,” a user wrote.

Another said she received a taste of her own medicine, pointing at her mean ways to win matches.
Some users also urged her to “go away”.
One user commented that Rousey’s pairing with Baszler has “made us hate you both exponentially more”.
Here are a few more reactions:
“This is why #firerondarousey is trending so cringe”
“My lawds… Trying real hard for that heat. Still boring af. Put the title on Raquel. At least she can actually perform in the ring.”
“That’s what happens when you take people out and laugh about it, it’s called getting even”
Fans were left disappointed with Rousey’s “fake fights for fun” comment
Not just her in-ring gimmick, fans were reportedly hurt after Rousey stated in 2020 that pro wrestling was “fake fights for fun”.
As the noise surrounding it grew, Rousey again took to Instagram to address the issue, and instead of quelling it, she stood by her point.

“Anyone who is outraged by me calling pro wrestling ‘fake fights for fun’ has never been in a REAL fight,” part of her Insta post read.

Said added while it’s difficult to be a part of pro wrestling matches for 300 days a year for several years, Rousey said a wrestler “would be dead” if they featured in 300 “REAL” fights in a year.

In the normal course, this would have meant the end of most talent in the WWE. However, Rousey not only came back strong, she also won the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Yet, the UFC Hall of Famer has a lot to improve if she wants to win back the fans’ trust.
