‘Smell of Jealousy’: Fans Side With Lacy Evans After Sgt Slaughter’s Daughter Called Her Out for the Second Time on Twitter for Stealing His Father’s Gimmick

Lacey Evans has not been on a smooth ride in WWE from the very beginning. After going into a routine hiatus from WWE programming, Evans resumed action on the June 2nd episode of SmackDown. But that too resulted in zero productivity. The 33-year-old’s effort to spice things up through a new gimmick and changes in character went in vain. The internet lashed out at the star for copying the iconic gimmick of legendary Sgt Slaughter.

Fans were far from impressed at her new look. But as time progresses, it seemed like the WWE world is slowly becoming receptive to the former Marine’s newest character.

Lacey Evans and Sgt Slaughter were pitched for a storyline months ago

The SmackDown star has been mostly sidelined in the Stamford-based company so far. Her recent most setback came in the form of his defeat at the hands of Zelina Vega during a Money in The Bank qualifier match last week. After experimenting a lot with different characters and gimmicks, Evans came out in a camouflage outfit that resembles WWE legend Sgt Slaughter at last week’s SmackDown. That said, she didn’t get the idea out of the blue.

It has been recently revealed that Sgt. Slaughter was asked to appear alongside Lacey Evans in January. The notorious Cobra Clutch was also supposed to be a part of the storyline. But Slaughter denied the pitch later.

Slaughter clearly isn’t a fan of Evans. Hence, he put her on blast with a long Twitter post after the recent gimmick controversy. On top of it, his daughter showed up in the picture to take jabs at the current WWE superstar’s gear. Evans came to her own defense at the first attack.

But as Kellie Slaughter tried to diss her over Twitter for the second time, fans took Evans’ side, defending her to the core.

Fans came to Lacey Evans’ rescue after the latest post of Slaughter’s daughter

After Evans fired back with a savage reply to Kelly Slaughters’ demeaning comment, the daughter of the former WWE legend went to bury her again in another post. She wrote, ”You’ve got my respect for serving our country. I’m talking about the gimmick. Cobra clutch & now the hat. You look ridiculous.”

Evans didn’t take long to counter her by retweeting it with a caption, ”A move is a move. As far as my military campaign cover goes….. come take it. ”

But this time she isn’t alone. Many fans served as her mouthpiece as well.

After some initial discomfort, it seems like fans start to find sense in the star’s heavily heated move. They gave logic on why it’s absolutely all right for Evans to use Slaughter’s signature attire and how that didn’t mean any offense.

Some of them really think Evans nailed her brand-new look.

Fans smell jealousy in the ruthless attacks of Slaughter’s daughter. They consider it a mere publicity stunt.

They advised Evans not to worry and reassured her of their love and admiration

Some of them also reminded the critics that it was not only the performers who decided on their own gimmicks. There is a whole creative team behind it.

However, given that fans start to accept Lacey’s new character, we can expect the 33 years old to regain her mojo in the promotion anytime soon.
