The latest episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown saw yet another string of great content. We got some exciting matches as well as some thrilling promos. However, one thing that caught the eye was the segments between The Miz and Otis.
Accompanied by his partner John Morrison, Miz kicked off smackdown. He eventually got down to speaking about why Mandy Rose left the blue brand and insulted Otis in the process.

Long story short, due to the humiliation that ensued after this got Otis in a lot of trouble. Mix plans on filing a lawsuit against him. Miz says that he will not proceed with legal action if Otis forfeits his Money in the Banks briefcase to him.
A lot of fans felt this storyline edgy. A similar angle was used for a Shawn Michaels segments years ago, and sports journalist Dave Meltzer feels that this is all a very convenient way to push Otis out.

In his words to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, he elucidated his thoughts.
“So The Miz and [John] Morrison are doing the ‘Dirtsheet’ and Otis comes out and beats them both up and they’re trying to rile up Otis by saying ‘Mandy Rose is on RAW and all those RAW guys are going to be after her and she’s going to drop Otis. And Dolph [Ziggler] is on RAW, and they used to date,’” explained Meltzer, “and so Otis comes out and beats the s**t out of both of them. Morrison is just looking at Miz, who’s like ‘Yeah he fell into our plan!’, and Morrison obviously didn’t know what the plan was.
WWE has made a convenient storyline to write Otis off
“But the plan is that between the first segment and the fifth segment, The Miz had a lawyer draft a lawsuit for unsafe working conditions, which is the old Shawn Michaels gimmick. They’re suing Otis but they’ll drop the lawsuit if he gives up the briefcase. Either they’re going to sue or the deal here is ‘We got no idea how to get the briefcase off Otis, so this is how we’re going to get it off him’. And that’s what it is,” concluded Meltzer.

The cruel truth is that during these times, WWE is looking to keep its ratings above the water. To ensure this, they are keeping the big names in the title picture and promoting fan favorites.
Otis unfortunately doesn’t find himself in this mix and loses out to The Miz when it comes to popularity. Things do not look good, and we may see the loveable beast lose his prized briefcase on the next episode of SmackDown.
