Bianca Belair shares how her iconic braid came into existence
Bianca Belair recently appeared on Booker T’s Hall of Fame Podcast. On the podcast, Matt Gilmore asked the ‘EST of WWE’ how she developed the idea of braiding her hair and also using it during matches.
Belair revealed the first thing was that she simply loved the look of it. However, she credited her husband, WWE Superstar Montez Ford, for helping her from the very beginning.
She shared Montez was the first person who told her to go with the braid when she was contemplating going with it for matches or not. Belair said, “He told me, ‘No, you have to wear that, because it makes you stand out.'”
The SmackDown Women’s Champion further shared that Montez Ford told her even if someone doesn’t know her name when she’s wrestling, they will point her out because of her braid. Why? Of course, because it makes her unique. But how did it become a part of her arsenal?
Where did the iconic hair whip come from?
Bianca Belair also shared how her hair became her weapon inside the ring. She revealed the current NXT Asst. Head Coach Sara Amato aka Sara Del Rey, suggested that she use the braid in some capacity.
“I was in the ring with Sara Amato, and she was like ‘you might want to learn how to use that. Otherwise, why are you wearing it? Have a reason behind everything that you do,'” said Belair.
After that conversation, Bianca, who used the braid for the first time against Ruby Riott, revealed it really hurt Riott. Well, there’s no doubt it hurts. We all know Sasha Banks may still be nursing the whip wound from WrestleMania 37.

“It looks great. But I have to have a reason for why I’m wearing it, or why I do it. It makes me stand out, people remember me, but it can really contribute to what I do in the ring and makes sense. It kind of all just fell into place. I can use it to my advantage now.” she concluded.
Bianca Belair and her iconic hair will forever be a trademark in the minds of the WWE Universe. Just like every time someone sees a Sledgehammer, they think about Triple H, the next time someone sees a braid, they’ll immediately remember the ‘B. E. S. T of WWE.’
