Dolph and Roode walked down to the ring and cut a promo full of mockery. Roode announced that he and Ziggler were coming after the SmackDown Tag Team Champions. The Street Profits walked out to confront Ziggler and Roode and cracked a couple of jokes at their expense.

The champions would have to eat coal, as they could not back their trash talk with a strong performance. Roode and Ziggler had the champions shook and made them reach down deep in an attempt to put away their feisty challengers.

Story of the match

The Profits came out of the gates strong, but the challengers were able to neutralise them very quickly. Ziggler was smart to attack Montez Ford’s midsection that was the constant focus of the New Day’s assault at Survivor Series.

Montez even missed his signature frog splash, causing further damage to his already injured midsection. Ziggler missed a corner splash and crotched himself on the turnbuckle. Montez used that to his advantage and tagged Angelo Dawkins into the match.

Dawkins ran wild on Roode before taking him down with a vicious spinebuster. He tagged in Ford who connected with a massive frog splash but could not cover Roode quick enough, as Dolph Ziggler slid in to make the save.

Ford managed to fight off Dolph Ziggler but forgot about the legal man in the ring. With Ford distracted, Roode rolled him up and grabbed his tights for the shocking upset. This win puts Roode and Ziggler in prime position for a title shot.

The SmackDown Tag Team Championships scene has been aided by the transition of teams like Street Profits, Ziggler and Roode, and even Rey and Dominik Mysterio from Raw to SmackDown. The exit of the New Day is a big loss, but the Street Profits have been able to fill that gap.

Ziggler and Roode are two very reliable wrestlers. They have a combined 20+ years of wrestling experience and will be able to put over the Street Profits in a major way.
