For a long time, Shane McMahon worked with WWE as part of his hereditary part in the business. However, because of personal disagreements with his father, he couldn’t carry on with the family business. Moreover, McMahon didn’t participate in any events either until last year’s WrestleMania 39 which didn’t directly involve Vince McMahon‘s ideas. Following his WWE return, Shane endured an injury, forcing him to retire once more. After months passed and he recovered, he still didn’t return to WWE. Now it seems Shane will instead be joining AEW and there may be a plan in the making.

The President of AEW is also the owner of the wrestling company. One more role that he has in the promotion is that he is one of the primary bookers there, apart from some wrestlers to whom he has given this leverage. Since Shane McMahon is rumored to join AEW soon, Dutch Mantell also thought of talking about this on his podcast.

The WWE legend said on ‘Story Time with Dutch Mantell’, “I think if he did enter AEW, and he had a little power, he could stop Tony from booking the way he’s booking. AEW, all they need is some stories, they got the talent. I mean, the talent is just, it just needs to be, they just need to slow it down and tell some frigging stories. That’s what it is. That’s why it’s called entertainment.

Dutch thinks that McMahon can take over Khan’s role in the booking department as he will be able to tell better stories in the promotion. There have been times when Tony Khan has been called out for not doing a good enough booking in his company. Could this be a possibility? But why would Shane McMahon even wish to join AEW?

Shane McMahon’s potential AEW joining reason listed

After getting fired from his role at WWE, McMahon wasn’t offered another contract. He did not receive a new position in the Stamford-based company, nor did he stick to the stock that was under his share of the company. Shane reportedly sold it long ago, cutting all ties with the wrestling promotion. This is what started the rumors about McMahon joining Tony Khan’s side in AEW.

He had also, as per rumors, been in contact with AEW employees and had already talked to the company’s president about a potential deal that they could strike. But what could be the reason? According to WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, you wouldn’t want to hang up your boots until you’re compelled to do so because of an injury or some other barrier.

McMahon had no reason to stay retired. Booker T believes that despite the bank account a person has, one should never leave money on the table. So, all of these reasons could be why Shane McMahon may be eyeing the possibility of joining AEW. This will grant him entry into the pro wrestling industry once again and help fuel his love for the business.
