However, things are not so smooth behind the scenes of the biggest wrestling promotion on the planet. The whole ruckus started back in 2020 when Vince McMahon and the company fired several superstars from their contracts citing ‘budget cuts’.
And the start of 2022 is nothing different from last year. During the very first month of this year, the live crowd witnessed the release of more than a dozen releases already.
The most recent release by the company was the ‘prodigal son‘ himself, Shane McMahon. Shane O’Mac made his in-ring return as a surprise entrant during the men’s Royal Rumble match.

The WWE locker room is devastated
Recently, Fightful Select got in touch with their reliable sources from WWE and learned that things are not all that smooth in WWE. There is a report that the wrestlers are frustrated with the direction of the company.
The overall morale of the locker room is low these days, and this is not only limited to the younger talents or the newcomers. Even the veterans and constant main-eventers are worried about what the management is thinking.
Following is an excerpt from Fightful Select regarding this report.
“Since this past week’s heavily criticized WWE Royal Rumble, Fightful has heard from a wealth of discouraged and disappointed WWE talent frustrated with the direction of the company. Ranging from those who are rarely on television to consistent main eventers, new names and veterans, we’ve heard of decreasing morale within the locker room.”
WWE chairman Vince McMahon recently removed many close friends of Triple H and changed the whole scenario of NXT, making it almost unrecognizable.

Honestly, as a company, WWE is suffering from a bad rep these days. With this recent firing of Shane McMahon, things have been bad.
There are also rumors that The Rock is taking strategic revenge against Triple H and Shawn Michaels because of the way he was treated by the two during his early days in WWE.
