WWE legend John Cena has made sporadic appearances in the squared circle since he went part-time. His last few appearances include matches against the likes of Roman Reigns and Austin Theory. The last time fans saw him was at Money In The Bank where he confronted Grayson Waller after he hyped the crowd with a WrestleMania in London chant.
Now, WWE has used Cena’s fame again to build its mega show in India, a country with a huge WWE fan base. A tweet on X through WWE about the show was followed by Cena’s tweet.
WWE India fans ready to say see John Cena in action

WWE legend John Cena is ready to set foot in India after 17 years. The last time he was in India was way back in 2006, courtesy of the TV network Ten Sports when he was the WWE Champion. WWE is attempting something similar this time as well but with a twist.
As announced by WWE through X, Cena will be making a return to the SmackDown show on September 1. This will be his first appearance on the show in 2023. Cena’s SmackDown appearance will be followed by a match at WWE Superstar Spectacle in India on September 8.
Cena confirmed the news by tweeting

Cena’s tweet confirms that he would be a part of the show and will have first his match ever in India. It is not sure who would be Cena’s opponent but rumors suggest Gunther would be facing Cena for the Intercontinental Championship, a title he has never won.

The official poster of the show includes Superstars Becky Lynch, Rollins, McIntyre, Zayn, Owens, Jinder Mahal, Ripley, Riddle, and Gunther.
