Vince McMahon announced his retirement from WWE last year in July. He stepped down from the role of CEO and Chairman in July 2022 but returned to the company as executive chairman of the company in January. However, a recent report shows that McMahon might have to take another long hiatus, similar to last year once again, seven months after his return.
A recent report shared by CNBC revealed that McMahon was served with a federal grand jury subpoena and search warrant. WWE shared the details of the same with CNBC.
WWE comments on Vince McMahon getting a subpoena and search warrant

Last month federal law enforcement agents executed a search warrant on WWE’s boss Vince McMahon. Moreover, they served McMahon with a subpoena which WWE revealed on Wednesday.
As per CNBC’s report, McMahon received a subpoena over the investigation of last year’s misconduct allegations. WWE also believes it is, “a continuation of the investigation that commenced last summer. WWE has cooperated throughout and fully understands and respects the government’s need for a complete process.”
In a separate statement, McMahon told CNBC, “I have always denied any intentional wrongdoing and continue to do so. I am confident that the government’s investigation will be resolved without any findings of wrongdoing.” The search warrant and subpoena were sent on July 17 this year.

As of now, Vince McMahon is on medical leave since July 21st according to WWE. He reportedly underwent spinal surgery, which was nearly 5 hours long. Moreover, ‘Vinnie-Mac’ will be on medical leave until WWE shares an update. But he will stay on as the Executive Chairman of WWE in the meantime.
In 2022, there was a special committee to investigate the matter of misconduct allegations against McMahon as per the disclosure of WWE. Reportedly, it ended in the fourth quarter of the same year. But as WWE said the government-related investigation was still ongoing.
How much did McMahon pay WWE in reimbursements?
McMahon returned to WWE’s board earlier this year. However, after they disbanded the special committee in November last year, WWE noted the 77-year-old can exercise his control over the company.

After a couple of months, it was also noted the former CEO of WWE paid a hefty amount to WWE. WWE has received approximately $17.4 million from McMahon in reimbursements “for costs that have been incurred and paid by the Company”.
WWE merged with MMA promotion UFC to form one publicly traded company owned by the Endeavor Group in April. That deal might close in the second half of this year.

There is no news on will these actions affect the merger going forward. However, with this news coming out, McMahon who is on medical leave, might take a sabbatical similar to last year.
