WWE fans are never done with conjecturing about the stars’ potential moves beforehand. When it comes to the most controversial wrestling entity at the present time, CM Punk, the speculation reaches another height. Ever since Tony Khan kicked Punk out of his promotion following a scuffle in AEW All In, the speculation regarding the Best in the World returning to WWE for the second time has been rife in the lore.

Now, with many winks and nudges about Punk’s second WWE run, and that too coming with some Seth Rollins connections, the upcoming Survivor Series looks like an ideal platform.

WWE fueled up the long-standing notion of a Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk showdown, delivering some small yet significant hints in recent weeks. The astute WWE fans who watched the red brand show this week surely noticed Michele Cole addressed Seth Rollins as Puppeteer. It immediately reminded them of one of Punk’s iconic promos in ROH, where he claimed fans were his puppets.

Also, this isn’t the first time Rollins pulled out a Punk reference in his promo. Last month, the Visionary called himself the Best in the World, a moniker solely belongs to Punk.

While these could be signs Rollins and WWE may just be toying with an ever-curious crowd, the favorable venue and schedule for Survivor Series can’t really be unseen.

Punk had a couple of free months in his hand, as he claimed earlier. Along with that line, the Survivor Series’ timeline fits his schedule and it will also go live from his hometown, Chicago. So, a return and a brawl with the current World Heavyweight Champion have very much been in the rumor mills.

However, contrary to the above-mentioned possibility, Rollins asked Punk to stay away from WWE.

The World Heavyweight champion savagely dismissed the idea of CM Punk’s return last year

Punk vs. Rollins has been brewing ever since Punk returned as a backstage WWE show analyst in 2019. The Architect took shots at the Second City Saints several times. But his comments on the former AEW talent ahead of Royal Rumble this year made a huge buzz all across.

Despite teasing a WrestleMania bout earlier, Rollins showed direct disapproval of the idea of CM Punk’s return to the company.

He leveled the 44-year-old as a cancer for the WWE locker room and warned him not to come back ever to the company. Now, given the interesting dynamic between two of the former and current WWE stars, we will need to see if they end up meeting from opposite ends of the ring at Survivor Series in November.
