Seth Rollins started 2020 as the Monday Night Messiah. The former Universal Champion has been one of Raw’s most important figures, both as a heel and as a face.
Just last year, he was leading Raw into Survivor Series and delivered a valiant performance in the traditional 5 on 5 elimination match. However, Rollins has been on Smackdown for less than a month, and is already a part of Team Smackdown.
Seth defeated former Mr. Money in the Bank, Otis, to qualify for the PPV. Otis should’ve rebounded from the devastating loss and the betrayal from his partner. However, with Murphy at ringside, Rollins was able to overcome Otis.

WWE thrives on senseless short term booking

WWE is known for extremely senseless booking and thrived upon it in the past few years. They have been more than willing to sacrifice long-term storytelling for short and immediate gains.
These rash booking decisions often take place before Survivor Series, in order to boost ticket sales and attract attention to the PPV.
Since 2016, Seth Rollins had been a regular feature of team Monday Night Raw for Survivor Series. He always made the red flag proud with some truly incredible performances against the likes of The New Day (vs the Shield in 2017), Shinsuke Nakamura (2018) and in last year’s edition. In fact, he had been the flag-bearer of Monday Night Raw and their most consistent performer.
Rollins was drafted to SmackDown and in no less than a month on the brand, he will be representing SmackDown at Survivor Series. This is another classic example of senseless booking. It is too soon for Rollins to be declaring his allegiance for a brand that will be set to destroy the brand that made Rollins who he is today.
Seth Rollins is not the only rash booking decision for Survivor Series 2020
I’ve assembled the best of the best for #SurvivorSeries like any REAL Team Captain should! Big men, big egos, big wins! I’m the best thing to happen to Team #WWERaw!!! https://t.co/hs1Jn9sUNY
— AJ Styles (@AJStylesOrg) November 3, 2020
In a similar manner, it is senseless for AJ Styles to be leading Team Raw into Survivor Series. The former WWE Champion prides himself on being the man who built SmackDown Live.
The man was the cornerstone of the blue brand for the majority of his WWE career and is now the captain of Team Raw.
Seth Rollins has a history with the commissioner of Monday Night Raw, Stephanie McMahon. The Million Dollar Princess could sway Rollins to the red side in the run up to the event. This could be an exciting prospect to follow, which also sows the seeds of dissent between Rollins and his fellow teammates.
Seth is involved in a rivalry with the Mysterio family
Another major reason why Rollins being on Team SmackDown makes no sense is due to his issues with Rey Mysterio. Mysterio might not have qualified for the team, but Survivor Series seems like a prime spot to end their rivalry.
The storyline has taken many weird twists and turns, and has now delved into a romantic storyline between Aalyah and Murphy, Rollins’ former disciple.
Survivor Series could have been the perfect blow-off for the entire rivalry that has been going on for months. Rollins could have assembled a team of five bruisers against Rey’s team of five warriors in what would have been a match for the ages. Instead, he is now teaming with his WrestleMania 36 opponent and Jey Uso. KO himself was just drafted from Raw!
WWE seems to be forgetting previous major storylines
Jey Uso himself has had issues with Seth Rollins in the past during his Shield days. Rollins led a Monday Night Raw invasion in 2017 with the Shield and destroyed Jey Uso and the rest of the Smackdown locker room. The eventual combustion of Team Smackdown might be entertaining to some but for now, it just seems plain senseless.
Let’s not forget the situation of Team Raw as well. Sheamus, who only recently moved from SmackDown to Raw has made the cut for the team. This includes Braun Strowman, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles and Ruby Riott who have only just switched brands, and now their allegiances.
Who deserves to be in Seth Rollins’ spot on the team?

So say goodnight to the short guy! The last time you’re gonna see a short guy like this again, let me tell you.
#HisNameIsGable pic.twitter.com/HMDfwMIxA9— Chad Gable (@WWEGable) October 24, 2020
Seth Rollins does not need to prove himself to anyone. He is already a household name in wrestling worldwide.

He became a Grand Slam Champion on Raw, met his wife on Raw, turned on his Shield brothers on Raw, reunited with the Shield on Raw and has even registered some of his biggest wins on Raw.
Him being on Team Smackdown tops the list of senseless decisions. The spot should belong to Chad Gable. The former Olympian has struggled to make a name for himself on the blue brand. A former Smackdown Tag Team Champion and King of the Ring finalist, he more than deserves to make the cut.
