Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman were involved in an indirect war of words after the latter stole the former’s spotlight while making a big announcement. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion resorted to calling Heyman a “buffoon” after the legendary manager allegedly stole his spot. Part of it unfolded at The Pat McAfee Show recently.

Heyman, who replaced Rollins as the guest, also hinted at his involvement in the swap. However, the 37-year-old Rollins later clarified the reason for his absence.

Former NFL punter Pat McAfee also worked for the WWE as a color commentator on SmackDown. He currently hosts the eponymous show. McAfee had confirmed that Rollins would appear as a guest to reveal the return of WWE Fastlane. The Premium Live Event (PLE) will take place after seven years, on October 7 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

However, after he introduced Rollins, Paul Heyman appeared on the screen, taking everyone by surprise. Heyman introduced himself in his trademark style and asked McAfee why he would “let Seth Rollins handle an announcement like this”? The Wise Man of The Bloodline also took a shot at Rollins by stating that the privilege should belong to “a proven champion, like your Tribal Chief, the Undisputed WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns“.

The 57-year-old said that the phones are prone to manipulation and hacking “and people can be given the wrong information about calling times”. This was a direct hint at his hand behind The Monday Night Messiah’s absence from the show. But the wrestler himself provided an update on the issue, albeit later.

The World Heavyweight Champion said he was stuck due to the weather and felt bad for the hosts from having to “deal with that buffoon”, while taking a jab at Heyman. Reigns’ manager also predicted a loss for the champion in his bout with NXT’s Bron Breakker.

While Rollins managed to win the match, he endured an attack from an unexpected opponent.

What happened to Seth Rollins at NXT?

Seth Rollins was back to familiar territory as he squared off against Breakker while putting the title on the line. Back in 2012, Rollins defeated Jinder Mahal to capture the inaugural NXT Championship. Now, among one of the most sought-after in the main roster, Rollins humbled the young star during their clash.

But soon after Finn Balor attacked him. In the recent episode of RAW, the Irish wrestler dished out a similar punishment and reached the developmental territory to continue the onslaught. Not just Rollins, Balor too had an impressive run in NXT, but his attack was unexpected.

Fortunately for The Visionary, he found support from Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams and was able to fend off the attack. Rollins will face Balor at WWE Money In The Bank on July 2 at the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom. Prior to the attacks, Balor had promised to exact revenge on Rollins for costing him a year in his career, referring to the injury he sustained during their match at the 2016 SummerSlam PLE.
