There was a lot of hype going on regarding the culmination of the biggest rivalry bout at SummerSlam 2024, CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre. The added element of spark of the match was Seth freakin Rollins in his special referee role. Although the match delivered the desired adrenaline rush, there was still some unfinished business left to be sorted between the three needle movers of the division.
Punk walked out from the Cleveland Browns Stadium empty-handed after months of bragging about his strength to topple the Scotsman. However, The Second City Saint’s tiff war of words with Rollins in between clearly gave us the early signs of who is going to be his prey next. That said, it will not be a wise forecast to cast out McIntyre from the picture either. Does that signal the bells for a Triple Threat bout? Let’s hear from some veterans of the business.

On the Raw ahead of SummerSlam, Seth Rollins specified how he felt about CM Punk and Drew Mclntyre. He laid out the rules for the match and reiterated he had an equal hatred for both the stars. Although Rollins’ disdain over Punk has been the central theme of the discussion for a while, there is a part of The Visionary that has something to do with leveling Mclntyre as well. The Scottish Psychopath did gain the decisive win at the Show of Shows that cost The Visionary his World Heavyweight gold.
The Scotsman and Rollins have only one thing in common. Their profound animosity against Punk. So with mixed agendas in plays, the obvious outcome would be a Triple Threat encounter. WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. also voiced his support for the bout on his podcast.
Analyzing the odds of the speculation, Brad Gilmore on his Hall of Famer podcast, noted, ‘‘Drew vs. Punk went as it should, but Seth should have put on that bracelet and Drew’s happy and done right now. But I see a triple threat in theaters soon. I think the story is really going to be, yes, more with Drew and Seth. I do, I think there’s a lot still on that meat on that bone.”
However, contrary to this idea, we can easily recall an instance of Rollins being a responsible passive counselor to Mclntyre.

Drew Mclntyre’s journey to the helm of WWE Universe was nothing short of a tale of resilience and undying perseverance. By weeding out Brock Lesnar to clinch the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36, the Scotsman has earned his stripes. However, after turning heel, he failed to realize his goals completely. McIntyre continued to encounter a repeated roadblock to rise to the title picture. Punk cost him his dream title, multiple times on TV. Analyzing these unfortunate outcomes, Rollins once blamed McIntyre’s emotional upheaval. Despite deeming him a smart gut, the Visionary asked him to man up emotionally and deal with the shrewd tricks of Punk better.
